Athletic Curriculum

Besides various robust academic programs, the School enjoys the benefit of a unique PE curriculum that integrates English language learning with physical activities and development of personal and social skills. The School celebrates PE through its several sport clubs, including Tennis, Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball, Martial Arts, and Cheerleading. Our student athletes have about three teaching hours of sports each day at school, consisting of morning exercises, at least one PE session during the day, and after-school training with their sport clubs. Annually, the School organizes a week-long Sport Festival for all students to participate in age- and level-appropriate games. In addition, many sport centered activities and tournaments are spread throughout the year.

Small Class Size

Each teaching and learning group consists of no more than 25 students, which is half the conventional class size in Chinese public schools--providing students with much more individual attention.

International Faculty

The School has faculty from all over the world. For those in the Physical Education department, many have high-level professional athletic background. Shenzhen Bay School is the first Chinese public school that specifically hires foreign PE teachers with a variety of professional and collegiate sport backgrounds.

Academies

The School is divided into four competing parallel academies, named after four thriving tree species in Shenzhen: Zijing, Hongmian, Lvrong, Lanying. Each academy has teachers and students at all grade levels.

Individualized Learning

Students have a large range of electives and extracurricular programs to choose from each term. Whenever possible, the school strives to provide individualized learning opportunities to all its students. One example is that Shenwen Huang, a 8th grader who has a particular passion for Chemistry, is leading an elective to teach his peers about what he’s discovered in the Chemistry world.

STEM

The school offers STEM/STEAM courses to students in all grades, with extensive opportunities to work on projects in after-school clubs and summer camps. These pragmatic projects expose students to international experiences and the most cutting-edge technology.
